Amy Kesavan, IBCLC, LCCE

Before you trust me as your lactation consultant and childbirth educator, I’m sure you want to know a little bit about me. First and foremost, I’m a proud mom of two myself. So I have been through the process that you are about to embark on, and I can tell you that while there are always challenges regarding motherhood, the beautiful bond you can build with your child will outweigh them all.

As an IBCLC (International Board of Lactation Consultant), I am trained to help new and expectant mothers prepare for the wonderful bonding experience that breastfeeding can be. However, this process, while natural, is different with every child. I know from experience that it can be challenging to figure out on your own without the assistance of a trained professional. Therefore, I love to help moms build their confidence in your body’s ability to produce the perfect food for your baby. I listen to your breastfeeding goals and then provide the training to help you reach those objectives that will boost your emotional, physiological, and biological connection with your newborn.

I am also a LCCE, which stands for Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator. The LCCE credential is the only National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)  accredited certification program for childbirth professionals. My experience also qualifies me to help you make informed decisions confidently regarding the birth of your child. For example, my first child was a planned homebirth attended by midwives and a doula. The birth of my second childbirth was also a planned homebirth, but developed into a planned Cesarean birth due to a high-risk pregnancy. Both were successful and beautiful experiences for my babies and me. That is why I wanted to attain the highest education certification possible, so I could share my experience and research with expectant moms, thereby empowering you and your family to make the best medical decisions while learning to harness your biological instincts that will naturally guide you through your delivery . This will allow you to have a safe and healthy birth experience that will help you to bond with your little one.

Besides one on one and group training, I also work with a number of local organizations, including:

  • La Leche League Leader

  • Tri-State Breastfeeding Association Board Member

  • Hudson Valley Birth Network Member

  • New York Lactation Consultant Association Member

In my personal life, I enjoy gardening, landscaping, and being a beekeeper. As you can tell from both my work and my hobbies, I love all of nature’s miracles!
